Chapter 6 Data, Charts & Graphs, Statistics

What will I be able to do when I finish this chapter?

Collect data.

Organize data.

Present data using circle, bar, and line graphs.

Use mean, median, and mode to interpret data.

Use measures of variability to interpret data.

Interpret data in normal distributions.

Solve application problems.

Chapter 6 Tips and Hints:

This chapter is different from chapters 1-5. In this chapter there is less of a focus on mathematical computation and more of a focus on interpretation of numbers. Consequently, you will need to read carefully to understand the concepts not just work out a series of problems.

In this chapter you will be presenting data using tables and graphs. The textbook refers you to a computer for making tables and graphs. Most spreadsheet software has the ability to create graphs from a table of data. If you have access to this type of software feel free to use it. If you don't have this type of software you can make your tables and graphs by hand. On the test, you will be required to create a graph. You can do it by whatever means you choose.
