Reading Assistance

Instructors are available for free academic support in reading and study skills. Students who wish to enhance their grades or are struggling in their coursework can stop in the Knox Learning Center and receive individual help in the following areas:

  • Reading strategies including the use of e-books
  • Note taking
  • Test taking
  • Study strategies
  • Computer operations
  • Various computer software

In addition, students can complete a Learning Style Inventory to determine what study strategies will work best with their learning style.

Review of Reading Strategies (Course # 78-890-731)

Learners will have opportunities to develop and expand reading skills including comprehension and vocabulary skills. Learners apply reading skills to academic tasks and read to acquire information from a variety of sources.

Students will improve study skills by applying new strategies and study habits to courses they are taking. Students will also evaluate the effectiveness of each new strategy and/or study habits used.
