Too busy to Blog! Who would have thought?

Who would ever think that life would get so busy that sitting down to write a thoughtful, entertaining and well written Blog would have to be “done at a more opportune time?” Our days consist of assessing children, treatment planning, administering medications and letting them braid our hair. When returning after an exhausting day, the assessment sheets have to be reorganized and treatments transferred to other sheets and medications paired up with each sick child so when we return they medications can all be explained to the Haitian nurse. Sometimes our days at the Children’s home end at 4:00 and then we have a 2 hour drive back to the guest house, supper and then the reorganizing begins. Internet service is a wonderful way to inform others about our day, let our families know how we are and share some of our experiences through pictures, but we all tend to overload the Internet service when more than 3 to 4 people are one at a time. One email to communicate how we are doing can take multiple attempts.  Many times we just give up or not even try. The inability to send messages are not complaints, but only differences that make us step back and be thankful for the blessings we have. The work here has been rewarding. The exhaustion at the end also comes with the joy of knowing the lives you have touched.

  1. “I planned to write, but Haiti happened” you can fill in the blank I planned to _________ but haiti happened so many different ways. Glad to get the communication we did. I hope you get to give a presentation to the SWTC board, nursing college people, churches, whoever will listen when you get back. Glad to see in the photos that the projector worked.

  2. Wonderful way to sum up your trip. Glad you had the experience. Safe travels home tomorrow.
