Southwest Tech Student Delivers Free Resources To Those In Need
Paige Johnston, a student in the Nonprofit Leadership program at Southwest Tech, has been busy this summer. Our Professional Agricultural Students (PAS) performed very well at the State PAS Conference, held Feb. 9-10 at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
We brought 44 club members to compete in both individual and team events, alongside other Wisconsin technical college chapters. Of the 44 students who competed in individual events, 31 qualified to advance to compete at the national competition. In the team events, 18 of our 26 teams earned a spot at nationals. The national competition will be held March 9–12 at the Chateau on the Lake Resort, Spa and Convention Center in Branson, Missouri.
“To have that many students and teams qualify shows the overall strength of the agricultural programs we have,” said Andrew Dal Santo, one of the club advisors and Agriculture Instructor. “It’s not just one standout event or one strong team, it’s consistent success across the program areas. It reflects the quality and expertise our instructors instill on our students. We wouldn’t see this level of success without their commitment to our students.”
In addition to Dal Santo, other advisors include Justin Rounds, Agricultural Power and Equipment Technician Instructor; John Kvigne, Agricultural Power and Equipment Technician Instructor, Ryan Weigel, Agriculture Instructor; and Kaley Nelson, Agribusiness Science and Technology Instructor.
