Fennimore -

Fennimore – Dr. Jason Wood and his wife Kathryn pledged $50,000 to the Southwest Tech Foundation to show their support of the college and help commemorate the 50th anniversary of the college.

Wood announced the gift at the all faculty and staff in-service on Wednesday, August 17th that they are committed to Southwest Wisconsin Technical College and they want their support to go towards student diversity scholarships and a new employee excellence fund. Wood followed the announcement by asking faculty and staff to support the 50th anniversary goal of setting the stage for fundraising and growth for the college and challenged all college employees to consider a new or increased payroll deduction gift, which his gift would match.

“Kathryn and I have a tremendous respect for the history of Southwest Tech.  With the support of faculty, staff, students, and our communities, we can build on the excellence for which Southwest Tech is known as demonstrated by being ranked the 11th best 2 year college in the nation,” said Wood.

Wood encouraged all employees to support a cause that means the most to them, stating that a $10 donation per payroll could establish an annual scholarship.  “Every contribution means more than you might think,” stated President Wood.

Wood joined Southwest Tech as its sixth President on July 1, 2015.  Wood came to Southwest Tech after serving as the Executive Vice President for Student and Academic Services at Central Wyoming College. Dr. Wood and his wife Kathryn have six daughters who are frequent guests on campus.

Southwest Tech was established on July 1, 1967 and will celebrate 50 years in 2017. The first major event of the anniversary is the Charger Golf Classic, an 18-hole and 9-hole best shot golf outing at Deer Valley Golf Course in Barneveld, WI. Tickets can be found online as well as alumni stories at https://www.swtc.edu/50/events/.

The Southwest Tech Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting learning through funding and activities that enables Southwest Tech to provide opportunities for success.
