Open House going virtual this year

Fennimore -

For the first time, the annual Southwest Wisconsin Technical College Open House event will be held in a virtual format. The event, planned for Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 3-7 p.m. will offer a variety of opportunities for attendees to learn about Southwest Tech and experience why the college is traditionally ranked high in national surveys.

“This year has brought with it a variety of challenges,” said Dr. Jason Wood, Southwest Tech president. “I’m proud to say that this new Virtual Open House format will still offer a great experience for those who participate. We want to highlight our exceptional college community and why Southwest Tech is a great choice for students. It will be an exciting event.”

The Virtual Open House is open to everyone of all ages and attendees can apply for free that day. They will get all their questions answered through a series of Zoom sessions. Pre-registration is recommended, where those who register will be eligible for giveaways, a chance to participate in special activities, drawings and more.

“I am thrilled for this opportunity to showcase everything Southwest Tech has to offer,” said Kaye Woodke, Southwest Tech assistant recruiter. “We offer more than 60 programs, affordable tuition, student housing, three athletic teams, a very active student life department, and much more. This will be a great way to bring all that together and put in front of potential students.”

Each area of the college will be available for the participant experience, in addition to special sessions, broken up in 20-minute blocks. Attendees will be able to meet with current faculty, staff, students and alumni. They will discover more about the programs that interest them. And they can learn about the services offered at the college and what the student experience looks like if they were to enroll.
