Southwest Tech Faculty and Staff are Giving Back During June Dairy Month
Fennimore -In June Southwest Wisconsin Technical College faculty and staff will take part in a Wisconsin tradition that spans over the last 47 years, nearly the same number of years that the college has been awarding degrees. The Wisconsin Dairy Breakfast is an event that attracts thousands of friends and neighbors to one farm or facility in the county on one day to celebrate June Dairy Month. It is fitting that faculty and staff of Southwest Tech are taking this opportunity, during the 50th anniversary of the college to show appreciation to alumni and friends in the district by volunteering at each of the five Dairy Breakfasts in the Southwest Tech district. Southwest Tech faculty and staff will be providing cake at each of the breakfasts along with other Southwest Tech promotional products.
When the planning started for Southwest Tech’s 50th anniversary, goals were set to reconnect alumni, show appreciation to those in the district and set the stage for growth as the college moves into the next 50 years. “When the idea of volunteering at each of the breakfasts came up, we knew it would be a great opportunity to meet all of our goals,” said Holly Clendenen, Executive Director of the Southwest Tech Foundation and Real Estate Foundation.
The Southwest Tech district includes Crawford, Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, and Richland counties. Representatives of the college will be volunteering at each of the breakfasts over the course of the first two weekends in June “We look forward to serving those who have attended or supported the Southwest Tech,” said Jason Wood, Southwest Tech President. “With a strong history in agriculture at the college, we appreciate our partners in the ag industry.”
In addition to the involvement with the Dairy Breakfasts, the college will continue to host events throughout the summer and fall, including a Southwest Tech themed corn maze at Vesperman Farms in Lancaster and a Homecoming celebration and concert open to the public on Saturday, September 23 on the Southwest Tech campus.
