Free healthcare conference planned on campusFennimore -
Officials at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College have scheduled a free professional development opportunity for healthcare professionals early next month. Bob Page, an internationally known speaker, instructor, author and paramedic will be featured at the two-day EMS Conference Oct. 8-9 on campus. The event is a partnership between Grant County Emergency Services and Southwest Tech.
Page takes ordinarily dry and difficult to teach topics and transforms them into a fun learning experience. He earned a master’s in adult education and has been an instructor for nearly four decades, teaching a variety of adult education courses, from customer service to advanced medical care. He is a certified healthcare simulation educator and operations specialist and has presented more than 3,000 seminars worldwide. He was recognized by his peers in Missouri as Missouri’s “Most Creative Educator” in 2009 and was awarded the “Legends That Walk Among Us” award from NAEMSE (National Association of EMS Educators) in 2012.
The event will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 and from 8 a.m.-noon on Sunday, Oct. 9, in the campus auditorium. The Saturday session is titled, “Multi-Lead Medics – 12-Lead ECG Interpretation for Acute and Critical Care Providers,” and is described as a “great course for EMS and hospitals implementing STEMI programs or for continuing professional development.” The Sunday session is titled, “Slap the Cap! The Comprehensive Capnography Course,” where participants “learn the incredible benefits gained from full ETCO2 monitoring and waveform assessment.”
