Personal Note:

Latasha (Tasha) Brown’s passion for reproductive health, community wellness, and culturally rooted care led her to pursue midwifery after years of supporting families as an registered nurse and advocate. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University in 2019 and holds board certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) and Women’s Health Gender-Related Nurse Practitioner (WHGRNP-BC). She is also certified as a Maternal Child Health Worker (MMCHW).

Latasha began her midwifery career in a hospital-based practice, where she worked for five years serving a diverse, high-risk population. Her transition to home birth allowed her to deepen her commitment to physiologic birth, relationship-centered care, and health equity. She is the owner of Sacred Waters Midwifery, where she offers fertility support, childbirth education, and placenta encapsulation. She also works as a home birth midwife with Birth in Color Midwifery, a collaborative practice rooted in birth justice and trauma-informed care.

Latasha has a deep love for teaching and brings a grounded, inclusive, and practical approach to midwifery education. She enjoys guiding students through the realities of birthwork in both institutional and community settings.

When not attending births or teaching, Latasha enjoys reading, crochet, and anything related to the arts. She is a mother of three and finds joy in balancing the sacredness of her work with the creativity and connection found in parenthood.
