Professional Licensure

Under federal statute 34 CFR 668.14(b)(32), Southwest Wisconsin Technical College (Southwest Tech) provides occupational programs designed to.meet the education requirements leading to licensure or certification that may be required for the student to practice or find employment in an occupation the program prepares students to enter.

Following United States Department of Education (DOE) federal regulations for professional licensure and certification disclosures, Southwest Tech cannot enroll students in locations the College has not determined or has determined do not meet the licensure or certification requirements in that location.

Only licensure boards or agencies can determine whether a program has met the required education requirements. These boards and agencies make that determination after someone graduates or completes the program and applies for a license. After all reasonable efforts, Southwest Tech has provided our best assessment of how our programs match the educational requirements for the license. Southwest Tech cannot guarantee the ability to earn any professional license or certification, in any field, in any state or territory.

Completing a program is typically only one part of the professional licensure requirements. Most states require that individuals meet additional requirements to qualify for licensure, including coursework and training, supervised clinical experiences, and successful passage of state or national exams. Other licensure requirements include fees, background checks, years of work experience, references, fingerprinting requirements, etc.  For more information about professional licensure, Southwest Tech students should review the professional licensure requirements in the state(s) they wish to be licensed in.

Only programs that are eligible for financial aid are included below. There may be other programs or certificates that meet licensure or certification requirements that are not listed here. Licensure information is reviewed and updated annually. Licensure requirements are subject to changes at any time. Please contact the program dean for further information or questions.
